Artist picture
Modern music with a retro sound. Strongly influenced by the great bands of the 60s and early 70s.
I have been writing and recording songs since 1969! Now I dispense cheap advice on Songwriting, Home Recording, and Live Sound on my website, . For my earliest recordings, my brother and I used two reel-to-reel tape decks, building up our songs by copying back and forth between them. The gear has improved over the years, and I am now using an 8-track Yamaha MD8 digital recorder in my hobby studio. I also own an on-location recording company, and for that I use a 16-track Korg D16XD.

Story behind the song
I heard someone say "Shut up and dance" on a sitcom once and I thought it would be a good title for a song. I wrote the call-and-response chorus first, then that gave me ideas for the verses and bridge. And there it was! Mark Bendig: vocals, acoustic guitar, drums Jack Burgess: lead guitar, bass, keyboard
Lyrics
Verse 1 My toes start tappin' now I can't sit still But you keep talkin' 'bout your telephone bill Come on baby Give your voice a rest I want to do what we do best Chorus (Shut up and dance) Yeah you talk too much (Shut up and dance) How I need your touch (Shut up and dance) Yeah you talk too much, woo Too much talk Not enough romance Verse 2 I gotta get goin' To the old dance hall But you're still talkin' 'bout some movie you saw Come on baby Just one request I want to do what we do best (Chorus) Bridge Well if you want to move your lips You can do it while you wiggle your hips And if you want to chatter for days You can do it while the music plays (Solo to Verse and Chorus) (Bridge) Verse 3 I don't want to listen I just want to dance But you won't stop talkin' 'bout your summer in France Come on baby now I must confess I want to do what we do best (Chorus)
