Story behind the song
This was a tune I picked out when I first got a ukulele a few years ago, which just had the first couple of lines with it. (I’m not sure where ‘Queen of the Nile ‘ came from – I liked it, but it was something of a rhyming cul-de-sac : but I persevered, though I’m not sure that Cleopatra’s personality matched the lyrics!) The rest came in a rush when I thought I’d already recorded enough songs for this CD – but I thought it went with the feel so I shoe-horned it in…
