An ode to the rapid 420 changes in the west and proliferation of boot-leg bud in the south.
I have been writing songs and fiddlin' with the guitar for years and years but only decided to put them together since my divorce. Now I am playing catch-up, revisiting these old (and some new) lyrics or melodies and finally bringing them together.
I have hundreds of melodies and lyrics...and now as I match them up and put them out there I slowly realize that this is what I should have been doing all along, before life got in the way.
Not looking at becoming a star but would like to write and record and perhaps market this vast collection of "music" I have in and around me and offer it to the world.
Thanks for the listen.

Story behind the song
An old Army friend wrote me from a prison in Mississippi after 20 years and told me this story. He's a good man, who simply said he "just wanted to get high"!!!
Lyrics
I Wanna Get High
copyright 2013 OpenMikeMusic
Mississippi lawmen hot on my trail,
caught dealing schwag I sold by the bale.
made it to Texas where they was waitin’ on me,
so I hauled my ass on back to Tennessee.
But right before I reached the ‘Bama line,
lawmen layin’ low, like an angry crimson tide,
and I don’t wanna die, tonight
or go away for life.
I won’t cause you pain,
just make it go away.
Don’t wanna make you cry
don’t wanna say goodbye,
I just wanna get high
They sent me to Texas to finish out my term
Mississippi waitin for a 7 year burn,
The judge said, naww,he wouldn’t parolee me,
so I escaped my ass on back to Tennessee.
But right before I reached the ‘Bama line,
lawmen layin’ low, like an angry crimson tide,
and I don’t wanna die, tonight
or go away for life.
I won’t cause you pain,
just make it go away.
Don’t wanna make you cry
just wanna say goodbye,
I just wanna get high,
I just wanna get high
I wanna get high…..
