Trash-pop, guitar rock and melodic miscellany.
Not so much a band as a bloke with a guitar and a laptop, The Smivets deliver a genre-bending blend of pop, rock, punk, prog and many other monosyllables.

Story behind the song
You often hear about people who have literally lost everything - I'm sure I can't begin to comprehend what that feels like. When I find myself being grumpy or sorry for myself maybe I should reflect on how lucky I am and stop whining. Not entirely sure where this came from, written as it was on a gorgeous sunny beach... And no I'm not in the grip of despair or depression or anything of the sort. I swear this stuff writes itself sometimes...
Lyrics
In this busy city I once called home Surrounded by so many, I have never felt so alone. I was always one who was happy where life takes me, But when I think of all I've lost, it almost breaks me And they say that you can always bounce back But I just can't work out how, And if there's such a thing as miracles That's what I need now. Have all you want, they said, if you just make a wish. Yeah, if that were true, I wouldn't have to live like this. Every time you think the spiral's bottomed out, You find out there's another level even further down. And I think I'm out of options now, I just don't know what to do; Every plan I had has fallen through. So come on, miracle, I need you now I need you now This bitter chill is denying me The last tattered fragments of my fast forgotten dream. But my dreams were built of paper On foundations made of sand; I could only watch them trickle through my hands. So come on, miracle, I need you now I need you now Come on, miracle, I need you now I need you now Come on, miracle Broken miracle Come on, miracle, I need you now I need you now

So damn good, really does capture the angst and desperation of how it feels to lose everything, means more than you could even imagine.

What's not to like about this, it has it all from the opening notes to the storyline to the sounds and vocals. Nicely done!

Musically brilliant Steve :) but the real art is the way you present the dramatic story so that it seems personal to the listener... really nice! somehow I think a music video wouldn't quite do this justice.. it needs a whole movie ;)
